The 5th-century Saint Zenobius was a patron of Florence. His deacons were Saints Eugenius and Crescentius. He miraculously restored to life the son of a French woman, who left the boy with the saint when going on a pilgrimage.

The painting, which appears to be an altarpiece, is probably the one recorded as painted for Bilivert's friend, Giuliani Gerolami.

The Collection also contains two of a set of four pictures of the works of Saint Zenobius painted by Botticelli.
