This fragment would probably have been tipped considerably to the left originally. The subject of the fresco from which this it comes remains unidentified.

It was formerly attributed to Sassetta and to Sano di Pietro (1405 - 1481), both of whom were active in Siena, but it may perhaps have come from Florence.
