This form of boar hunt was practised by the Spanish kings; the game was hunted within a canvas (tela) enclosure (hence 'La Tela Real' i.e. the Royal Enclosure). Owing to the tremendous expense involved, only the king could afford it. In the right foreground Philip IV is meeting the charge of the boar; immediately to his left is the Conde-Duque de Olivares (first minister to the king) and beyond him the Infante Don Carlos (?), Philip's brother.

The Queen, Isabella, can be seen seated in the carriage near the riders.
