This is an authentic display replica of a Victorian-era pond yacht, the type of sailing craft that a 19th century child may have taken to the park with their father or the family’s nanny. The canvas sails have been sewn from individual segments of cloth, giving the impression they use old pennants and nautical flags including the Union Jack. An inlaid strip of wood forms the deck, while the solid brass hardware has been cast from individual moulds. Bold non-toxic paints complete the accurate reproduction design.
J.M.W. Turner used brilliant colours to depict the weather conditions in his seascapes while also paying meticulous attention to detail. Our model yacht is a reminder of the Victorian England that Turner experienced, with its love of the sea and its fascination with exploration – and has been reproduced with a level of painstaking accuracy Joseph Turner would have appreciated.
Whether your Union Jack yacht is heading for a kid’s den or a display cabinet, it’s sure to be a talking point. You can even tell people you made it yourself, because it’ll require a few minutes of assembly when it arrives. Detailed instructions are included, of course!
