These figurines are inspired by Hieronymus Bosch's paintings The Garden of Earthly Delights and The Temptation of Saint Anthony and Bruegel’s iconic painting The Fall of the Rebel Angels.

Hieronymus Bosch's elaborate paintings have always been hugely popular as well as controversial. His landscapes depicting humans, animals, and fabulous creatures in various states of ecstasy and misery were greatly imitated by his contemporaries and laid the foundations for the Surrealist movement of the 20th century. But of all Bosch's works, The Garden of Earthly Delights, located in the Prado Museum in Madrid, has provoked the most debate.

The Fall of the Rebel Angels is an iconic painting by Flemish artist Pieter the Elder Bruegel, from 1562. The painting shows the chaotic battle between the archangels led by St. Michael and the fallen angels, symbolising how the decay of the church and his clergy was brought to a standstill in the sixteenth century.
