In the right middle distance is a States yacht ('statenjacht') with Dutch colours firing a salute. It is a vessel then used by the Dutch chamber of provincial representative, the States General, in The Hague for transporting its members and important visitors. The nearer of the two barges in the foreground is also flying Dutch colours. This picture was probably painted in the mid-1660s.
