The Linbury Lecture at the National Gallery 2019: Telling the Nineteenth Century
In this first in a new series of Linbury Lectures, Laurence des Cars, Director of the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, reflects on the different ways in which the Musée d’Orsay and the National Gallery present the story of nineteenth- and early twentieth-century painting. Her post-lecture conversation with Christopher Riopelle, the Neil Westreich Curator of Post-1800 Paintings at the National Gallery, is also included.
The Linbury Lecture at the National Gallery is a new series of annual lectures that invites distinguished personalities from the broad fields of culture, academia and museums to explore themes relating to the National Gallery’s history and its collection.
